Tiago EV 2026 Facelift: 100K Price Cut, Lifetime Battery Warranty & Everything You Should Know

By Navneet
June 8, 2026 10 Min Read

Tata Motors has launched a new version of a popular model Tiago ev  and made it cheaper. The 2026 Tiago EV starts at ₹6.99 lakh,  1 lakh less than the previous model’s ₹7.99 lakh starting price.

That alone would be enough to write about. But Tata also added a lifetime battery warranty on the larger 24 kWh pack, improved charging speed by 40%, and redesigned the car inside out. And yet somehow, the price went down.

I have been covering Indian EVs for 5 years. Launches that tick this many boxes simultaneously do not come around often. So before you go for the booking Tiago EV 2026, read this fully,  because there are things the press release does not quite say, and some numbers that look better on paper than they do at the showroom.

Starting Price ₹6.99 lakh (ex-showroom)
BaaS Price ₹4.69 lakh
Top Variant ₹9.99 lakh
Battery Options 19.2 kWh / 24 kWh
Claimed Range 226 km / 293 km
Booking Amount ₹11,000
Delivery Start Mid-June 2026
Warranty (24 kWh) Lifetime

Tata Tiago EV 2026 Prices-  All Three Variants

Variant Battery Ex-Showroom BaaS Price
Smart 19.2 kWh ₹6.99 lakh ₹4.69 lakh
Pure Plus 24 kWh ~₹8.49 lakh* ~₹6.19 lakh*
Creative Plus 24 kWh ₹9.99 lakh ~₹7.69 lakh*

*All prices ex-showroom. On-road prices vary by state. Verify with the dealer before purchase.

*Pure Plus pricing estimated from Tata’s confirmed range. Verify at your dealer or ev.tatamotors.com before booking.

Three variants, two battery sizes. Smart gets the smaller 19.2 kWh, adequate for city use, no lifetime warranty. The Pure Plus and Creative Plus both get the 24 kWh pack and the lifetime warranty. At the top, Creative Plus at ₹9.99 lakh lands in the same bracket as the Punch EV base, which raises an interesting question we will come back to.

What You Will Actually Pay, On-Road Prices, City Wise

Nobody in India buys a car at ex-showroom price. Once registration, road tax, insurance, and TCS are added, the number looks different. Here are estimated on-road prices for the Smart variant:

City Estimated On-Road Price (Smart, 19.2 kWh)
Delhi ₹7.65 – ₹7.85 lakh
Mumbai ₹8.10 – ₹8.30 lakh
Bangalore ₹7.90 – ₹8.10 lakh
Chennai ₹8.00 – ₹8.20 lakh
Hyderabad ₹7.80 – ₹8.00 lakh

Delhi comes out cheapest and it is not close. The state charges zero road tax on EVs under its EV policy. That ₹30,000–₹50,000 gap versus Mumbai or Chennai is real money. These are estimates — get a confirmed quote from your dealer in writing before paying the booking amount.

The BaaS Model,  What It Is, and Whether You Should Use It

BaaS stands for Battery as a Service. You buy the car. Tata retains ownership of the battery. You pay a monthly subscription to use it — like renting the most expensive component of the vehicle. On paper, this drops the Smart variant to ₹4.69 lakh, lower than a Maruti WagonR on-road. But here is the fuller picture:

Parameter Standard Purchase BaaS
Upfront Cost (Smart) ₹6.99 lakh ₹4.69 lakh
Monthly Battery Sub Nothing ~₹3,000–₹4,500*
Battery Warranty 8 yrs / 1.6 lakh km Covered by Tata
Long-Term Flexibility Own everything Can swap/upgrade battery
5-Year Total (low mi.) Lower Higher

*All prices ex-showroom. On-road prices vary by state. Verify with dealer before purchase.

*Subscription amount depends on monthly km usage slab. Ask your dealer.

BaaS is genuinely useful for a specific type of buyer. If your household income makes a ₹7 lakh purchase uncomfortable, but you can manage ₹4.69 lakh plus a ₹3,500 monthly subscription, BaaS solves a real problem. It is also sensible if you drive under 1,200–1,500 km a month and are not planning to keep the car beyond five years.

What BaaS is not: a clever trick that saves everyone money. If you drive heavily and plan to own the car for seven-plus years, the subscription adds up and outright purchase works out cheaper. Model your own numbers before deciding.

EMI Reality Check for Tata Tiago 2026 Facelift

Loan Amount Monthly EMI (8.5%, 5 yrs)
₹8 lakh ~₹16,400
₹6.5 lakh ~₹13,300
₹5 lakh ~₹10,250
BaaS Smart (₹4.69L loan + ₹3,500 sub) ~₹9,600 + ₹3,500 = ~₹13,100/month total

Worth noticing: the BaaS Smart variant and the standard Smart on a ₹6.5 lakh loan end up at nearly identical monthly outgo (₹13,100 vs ₹13,300). The real BaaS advantage is the reduced upfront payment, not the monthly cost. That matters for buyers who struggle with large down payments but can manage regular installments.

The New Design, What Changed and What Did Not

Tata did not just tweak the headlights and call it a facelift. The front is a genuinely new, closed-off grille, a cleaner body-coloured nose, slim LED headlamps, and DRLs that sweep across in a way that looks more expensive than the price suggests. The rear gets connected LED tail lamps with a light strip running across the bootlid,  the same visual language Tata uses on the Nexon EV and Harrier.

The sides? Mostly the same silhouette. The alloys are redesigned but the body shape is familiar if you have seen the old model. Inside is where the improvement feels most real. The flat dashboard with fabric padding, free-floating touchscreen, and revised two-spoke steering wheel no longer feel like a ₹7 lakh cabin — which is genuinely impressive.

Available Colours

Colour Type
Pristine White Solid
Midnight Black Solid
Daytona Grey Solid
Tornado Blue Solid
Flame Red Solid
White + Black Roof Dual-Tone
Blue + Black Roof Dual-Tone

*Dual-tone availability can vary by city and dealer stock. Confirm before you get attached to a specific combination.

Tiago EV 2026 Features, The Parts That Actually Matter at This Price

The 6 airbags across all variants is the headline. Not just the top-spec,  every single Tiago EV, from the base Smart upward, gets six airbags as standard. Most cars at ₹7–10 lakh still offer two airbags and make you pay extra for the rest. Tata does not give you that option,  it is standard. That is a philosophical choice about safety, and the right one.

The 360-degree camera on the Creative Plus is the other standout. Below ₹12 lakh, almost no EV in India offers this. It is genuinely useful in Indian parking,  tight basement spots, narrow colony lanes, backing up next to autos and two-wheelers. Having it at ₹9.99 lakh is unexpected.

Two wireless phone chargers at this price? Most cars at ₹15 lakh still have one. The automatic climate control with rear AC vents matters specifically for Indian summers — rear passengers in an Indian family car are not an afterthought, and Tata does not treat them as one.

The full safety kit, ABS with EBD, ESP, Hill Hold Control, TPMS, rain-sensing wipers, ISOFIX — is exactly what you want on a family car. The 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is expected at this price. Good that it is present, not remarkable.

Battery, Range, and Charging, The Honest Numbers

Spec 19.2 kWh (Smart)24 kWh (Pure Plus / Creative Plus)
Power 61 PS 75 PS
Torque 110 Nm 114 Nm
MIDC Claimed Range 226 km 293 km
Real-World City 160–175 km 205–220 km
Real-World Highway 140–155 km 175–195 km

*All prices ex-showroom. On-road prices vary by state. Verify with the dealer before purchase. Page 4

Spec 19.2 kWh (Smart)24 kWh (Pure Plus / Creative Plus)
DC Fast Charge 10–80% in 35 min 10–80% in 35 min
AC Charge (7.2 kW) ~3.5 hours ~4 hours
Home Socket (3.3 kW) ~7 hours ~8 hours
0–60 km/h ~6 seconds 5.7 seconds
Battery Warranty 8 yrs / 1.6L km Lifetime

The charging speed improvement is real. 18 minutes for 100 km on a DC fast charger is a meaningful upgrade. You stop for chai on a highway, the car charges. That is a practical solution. The catch: DC fast chargers are still not as widespread outside major cities. If you live in Tier 2 or Tier 3 India, check the charging infrastructure in your area before assuming fast charging will always be accessible.

On the lifetime warranty, it covers degradation and manufacturing defects under normal use. Flood damage, modifications, accidents can void it. For standard daily driving, it means you are not worrying about battery replacement at year eight. That peace of mind has real financial value

Smart vs Pure Plus vs Creative Plus, Which to Pick

Smart at ₹6.99 lakh: Smaller battery, 160–175 km city range, no lifetime warranty, no 360° camera. If the budget ceiling is firm and you drive under 60 km daily, this does the job. Do not stretch for features you will not use.

Pure Plus at ~₹8.49 lakh: Probably where most buyers should land. The 24 kWh battery brings the lifetime warranty, better range, and most premium features. The ₹1.5 lakh jump over Smart makes financial sense for anyone keeping the car past five years — the warranty alone covers that.

Creative Plus at ₹9.99 lakh: Everything Tata puts in this car. 360° camera, dual wireless charging, the full feature set. At ₹9.99 lakh it is cheaper than the Tata Punch EV base. If a hatchback suits your needs and you are in this price range, the Creative Plus is extraordinarily good value.

Online booking takes about five minutes,  pick battery, variant, colour, pay ₹11,000. If you have not booked a test drive, do that first. Tata dealerships have 2026 facelift demo units right now. Spend ten minutes in stop-and-go city traffic. It will tell you more about which battery you actually need than any spec sheet.

*All prices ex-showroom. On-road prices vary by state. Verify with the dealer before purchase.

Government Incentives,  Where Things Actually Stand

FAME II ended in March 2024. The PM E-Drive scheme that followed it focuses primarily on two and three-wheelers for direct consumer subsidies. For personal 4-wheeler EVs, PM E-Drive benefits are limited as of mid-2026,  confirm current applicability with your dealer when you visit, since policy has changed multiple times.

*All prices ex-showroom. On-road prices vary by state. Verify with the dealer before purchase.

State-level benefits are more consistent. Delhi has the most generous EV incentives in India, zero road tax, zero registration fee, additional purchase subsidy under the Delhi EV Policy. Maharashtra and Karnataka offer road tax exemptions. Gujarat has offered up to ₹1.5 lakh subsidy for 4-wheeler EVs,  confirming current eligibility at time of purchase.

Who Should Buy This Car

Buy the Tiago EV if:

• Your daily commute is under 80 km in the city

• You have home charging access (even a regular 15A socket works overnight) • You need a primary family car in the ₹7–10 lakh range

• You want 6 airbags, 360° camera, and fast charging without spending ₹12–15 lakh • You want Tata’s 800+ EV-serviced dealer network across India

Think twice if:

• You regularly drive 200+ km in a single stretch without guaranteed fast charger access • You live in Tier 2/3 India where charging infrastructure is still limited

• Roads in your area are genuinely bad,  the Punch EV’s 188 mm clearance handles these better

• You plan to sell in three years,  EV resale in India is still developing

• BaaS: not right for anyone driving more than 2,000 km a month

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the on-road price in Delhi for the base Smart variant?

Roughly ₹7.65 to ₹7.85 lakh all-in,  registration, insurance, TCS included. Delhi’s zero road tax policy makes it the most affordable city for this purchase.

Is BaaS actually saving money, or just moving costs around?

Both, depending on who you are. The upfront saving of ₹2.3 lakh is real. But you are paying ₹3,000–₹4,500 monthly for the battery. If you drive 1,000 km a month and own the car for seven years, the subscription exceeds what you saved. For lower mileage or shorter ownership, BaaS likely works in your favour.

What real-world range does the 24 kWh battery give in city driving?

Expect 205–215 km in city conditions with AC running. On highways at 80–100 km/h, expect 175–195 km. Tata’s 293 km MIDC figure is a certified test number — useful for comparisons, not for planning your actual drive. AC usage clips roughly 15–20 km off these estimates.

How long does charging take at home overnight?

Using the 7.2 kW AC charger: about 4 hours for the 24 kWh pack from near-empty. On a regular 15-amp home socket with the 3.3 kW charger: 7–8 hours. A DC fast charger (at Tata stations or highway plazas) takes 10% to 80% in about 35 minutes.

All prices ex-showroom. On-road prices vary by state. Verify with the dealer before purchase. Page 9

Creative Plus or Punch EV base, same price range, which one?

Choose Creative Plus if: city-primary use, under 150 km daily, want lifetime warranty. Choose Punch EV if: regular highway runs above 150 km, need more boot space, or want better ground clearance for rough roads. Do not pick the Punch EV just because it sounds more premium — match the car to how you actually drive.

What does ‘lifetime battery warranty’ mean in practice?

Tata covers the 24 kWh battery against manufacturing defects and abnormal degradation for as long as you own the car. It does not cover flood damage, accidents, or unauthorised modifications. For normal ownership, it means you are not sitting awake at year eight worrying about a ₹2 lakh battery replacement.

Can I book in Delhi even if I live in another city?

Yes, you can book online from anywhere. Delivery happens through your chosen dealer. But note: if registered in Delhi, the vehicle carries Delhi registration. Think through the resale implications if you eventually move states.

Final Verdict

The 2026 Tata Tiago EV facelift is the best version of this car since it launched in 2022. Price cut, lifetime warranty, faster charging, these are not incremental updates. At ₹6.99 lakh outright, or ₹4.69 lakh under BaaS, the entry point to electric mobility in India has never been lower for a full-size family hatchback. The Creative Plus at ₹9.99 lakh, with its lifetime warranty and complete feature set, is arguably the most compelling sub-₹10 lakh EV on sale right now.

Buy the Smart variant if ₹6.99 lakh is your hard ceiling and city driving is genuinely all you do. Buy the Pure Plus or Creative Plus if you can stretch, the lifetime warranty on the 24 kWh battery is worth the premium for anyone planning to own this car for five or more years.

Book at ev.tatamotors.com or walk into any Tata dealership with ₹11,000. Deliveries start mid-June 2026, one to two months waiting period.

Take the test drive first. Always.

Disclaimer: All prices are ex-showroom as of June 2026. On-road prices are estimates, get a confirmed quote from your dealer. BaaS subscription amounts vary by usage slab. EMI figures are indicative at 8.5% p.a. and vary by lender. Subsidy eligibility should be confirmed at time of purchase. Range estimates vary by driving conditions.
